The first 3 months

With incident free days now in the double figures, a couple of lessons from a great instructor and a couple of trips to/from Rozelle Bay, we figure it is time to head north. The learning curve was steepish and we have:
  • reversed into berths while (gently) bouncing off poles and other (fender protected) boats
  • wrapped shore lines around the prop - god bless Ryan for setting us free
  • learned what an inverter can and can't do
  • learned that an electrical cord is not as strong as a mooring line
but, we have not:
  • run aground
  • sunk or damaged the boat
  • damaged ourselves (except a bit of pride)

We are now at that stage of the learning curve where we can look around and, with some quiet sense of achievement, take the "L" off and put on the "P". We've had some lovely days on the Hawkesbury and the Harbour, travelled up and down the coast a little, worked our way through some solid swells and strong winds - with the very first heave over the back going to an apprentice crew member (who wishes to remain anonymous), but who has backed up for more!!

Thanks to all who have come aboard (some pictures below). The Communications Officer apologizes to those who didn't make the slide show, and has been lashed accordingly.

Hopefully we'll be able to update this when we are up the coast a way, which should start on Friday if the winds ease up.
